Tournament
of Time invites
you to join a unique exploration of the nature of time and memory through
the prism of the world’s premier New Year’s Day celebration: The Tournament
of Roses and its illustrious game, The Rose Bowl.
Help
celebrate the actual arrival of the third millennium and 21stCentury
on New Year’s Day 2001! We want your photos of the 2001 Tournament of Roses,
and your recent and old family photos of the Parade, for a unique “space-time
mosaic” of the 112 occasions of Pasadena’s Rose Parade, to be presented
at the end of the year in collaboration with the Pasadena Historical Museum
and on the Tournament of Time website. During the 2001- 2002 holiday
period, we will mount a public imaging project along Colorado Boulevard.
The Tournament of Time will culminate late next December with a
multi-media festival in Pasadena.
This
participatory public arts & history project explores the ongoing history
of the Tournament, Pasadena and its environs, and popular culture through
the last 112 years. Please join us by contributing Rose Parade,
Rose Bowl, or Pasadena-related stories, images, snapshots, and copies of
home-movie and video footage – anything that sheds light on the nature
of the time in which it was taken, the experience of the Parade, the Colorado
Boulevard streetscape, float building and football, fun and games, and
life in the Crown City.
Later
in 2001, the Tournament of Time website will include a digital facility
to receive photos of the Rose Parade referenced to their physical locations
along the Parade route. Meanwhile, please send your images and stories
to the e-mail address below, or by mail, enclosing a self-addressed return
envelope if you want the material returned. All
content submitted becomes the property of the Tournament of Time
for purposes of exhibition and public enjoyment. All
photos, stories, and submissions will be credited to the folks who made
them!
